July 5, 2012

A Monroe County jury Friday returned a verdict of $2.4 million to a man injured in a car accident several years ago.

Following a five-day trial before Monroe County Supreme Court Justice William P. Polito, the jury made the award to a man from Arizona who suffered shoulder and back injuries in an accident on state Route 390 in the Town of Greece. He was a passenger in a car that was struck by another car driven by Chad Meyers, an employee of Holtz House of Vehicles Inc. Meyers admitted to police that he fell asleep.

The verdict was rendered against Holtz, Meyers and the owner of the vehicle, T. Bee Inc. He was represented by Vincent E. Doyle III and John T. Loss of the Buffalo law firm Connors & Vilardo LLP. It was Doyle’s first trial since finishing a one-year term June 1 as president of the New York State Bar Association.

The verdict was featured in an article in the New York Daily Record.
